In my first years as elementary principal, I struggled with a failed program in first grade reading. The program was literature based, but something was missing. The students were not learning to read very well. In many situations, teachers, parents, and students were frustrated with their lack of reading success. Faye Crow came to my school with an infant, “Ready Reading.” The rest is history–The primary teachers became disciples for the reading program. Children began having success in reading. Parent support for school became very positive. As an elementary principal, I supported my teachers in the use of this effective reading program for over fifteen years. Being a skeptic, I checked and doublechecked our reading progress through pre and post testing with standardized achievement tests. I even sent out surveys to parents to gain their input into our school programs. I observed in class sessions frequently. Our primary reading program was really good. These are some of the reasons I can recommend “Ready Reading” above other reading programs. I do not believe there is a better companion program on the market for the primary student. It is exceptionally effective as a kindergarten program. It almost eliminates the need for remedial reading in the primary grades. “Ready Reading” gives older students who need extra help in reading the proper tools to open doors for rapid growth in reading skills. I listened to teachers and parents talk of the merits of “Ready Reading.” “My child is learning to read.” “My child is reading.” “My child loves to read.” “My child loves school.” “My child’s teacher is wonderful.” These are statements from parents of children who are in effective reading programs. Teachers departing my school carried the program to schools throughout the country and world. Positive personal testimony coupled with higher student achievement and student-parent satisfaction in a reading program makes a great school. What more could you want in a reading program!

This is an excellent program.  It supplies most materials or utilizes things that are readily available in the classroom.  I used it with second graders who were not successful in other reading programs and they were able to learn to read.

As a special education resource teacher I have found Ready Reading to be a fantastic tool to teach phonics-based reading.  The sequential steps help students gain mastery of each new sound. The controlled vocabulary storybooks have children reading real books long before other programs, which builds the confidence level of my struggling readers.
— Judy Shepard, Special Education Resource Teacher, J. E. Moss Elementary, Nashville, TN

Ready Reading is a wonderful language arts program. My students are so excited about their reading and spelling success.  I see a whole new love of reading.  My entire team adopted this program and love it!
— Phyllis Phillips, First Grade, Glenn Elementary, Nashville, TN

In 21 years of teaching, I have used many different reading materials, but none have been as effective as Ready Reading.  It is a well-rounded reading program.  I really like the multi-sensory approach for teaching reading.  The program emphasizes writing words in the phonics lesson to reinforce the student’s memory of letter sounds, and the letters learned in the previous lessons are used in the new lesson to build words.  It provides the students with the necessary skills to become independent readers.  Ready Reading is an excellent reading program.

After 20 years of teaching, 8 file cabinets of materials, and a wall of resource books, Faye Crow’s Ready Reading program is the only perfect recipe I have found that works 100% in teaching children to be successful readers.  I have advised concerned parents, tutors, and teachers throughout the U.S. and Europe to purchase this incredible program that has parents and children so excited about reading that I have people from all nationalities requesting me to teach this program to their children.  When I taught a preschool class in Italy with children speaking eight different languages, I used Ready Reading.  What a joy to see preschoolers word blending three letter words.  My first and second graders actually wanted to do their homework because they knew that they were going to play the word blending games and read their storybooks to their parents.  Many times I have received higher elementary students who had a short time limit to raise their reading scores in order to test into a new grade or into a private school. In just a month, the students were already understanding the process of word blending due to the sequential order of the sounds and words.  I’ve had nonreaders test three grades higher in just one year’s time of Ready Reading.  The 66 sequential multi-sensory lessons make word blending easy and fun for all students.  Parents, teachers, and tutors can use this easy program.  Set all other phonic approaches aside.  Start your child on Ready Reading and you’ll be guaranteed a child who will love to read for the rest of his life.

I have used Ready Reading for the past three years in my K. program.  It is my basic program for teaching letter, word identification, and comprehension skills.  I move into teaching reading at the end of the 3d six weeks.  It is the most outstanding program I have used. Consistency is the key to the success of Ready Reading.  It lets every student feel good about self with little materials required.  I feel it is a must for every teacher.
— Joyce Pyle, Kindergarten Teacher, J. E. Moss Elementary, Metro Nashville, TN
Our school is currently using a basal reading series.  In the kindergarten level, students learn 18 initial consonants for beginning sounds of words and are introduced to eight high frequency words.  The abilities of my students are far in excess of this due to the fact that I have taught reading using Faye Crow’s phonetic approach… The first year I used the program, I was hesitant about the ability five-year-old students would have in being able to master the sounds of the alphabet as well as the ability to blend the sounds together to make words.  However, they readily learned the sounds and blended them together very nicely.  The children delight in reading hundreds of words simply by putting the sounds they have learned together to make words.  This skill greatly enhanced their ability to independently decode and read sight words in the first grade pre-primers.

In 17 years of teaching, Ready Reading is the most effective program I have ever used!  Ready Reading combines spelling, reading, phonics, penmanship, and creative writing skills in each easy lesson. This program is adaptable for both resource and gifted students.  My students read and spell above grade level!
— Dr.Tywanna Peoples, Teacher, Glenn Elementary, Nashville, TN

I have used Faye Crow’s reading program for 17 years.  It is easily adaptable to students’ differing abilities, and has the necessary reinforcement built into the program.  The basic phonetic word blending technique promotes great and rapid independence in beginning readers, providing them with the tools to unlock comprehension of the printed word.  With this approach, students gain success very early and maintain excitement with their new ability.  The creative writing produced by children in this program is phenomenal.  Instructing students early in the knowledge of short vowel sounds not only makes creative writing easier, but also helps foster improved progress in the students’ word attack and comprehension skills.  I find this to be a major advantage over all other materials I have used.

I have worked in an EMH class for three years.  Needless to say, nothing seemed to work.  They could not seem to get regular textbook phonics down, and when you would introduce any words to them, they really had trouble.  So this year...I talked to the new teacher about your books. Needless to say they were excited about the work and they were really excited when they could actually read; they were running around telling everyone about it. One boy even said, “I’m a big boy now.  I can read.  I was little before but now I’m big.”  These students are now going into the next year reading, but that’s nothing compared to the feeling that they have about themselves.
