LESSON PLANS FOR cross-curriculum centers - long vowels

Ready Reading Recommended Lesson Plan
Cross-Curriculum Centers - Long Vowels

Are you needing ideas for activities for students to review what they are learning in directed instruction?  Are you looking for activities that require minimal preparation time and can be done by para-professionals or volunteer parents?

Ready Reading Lesson Plans for Centers has suggestions for you.  They are correlated with lessons in the Ready Reading manual.  Best of all, they are FREE.

I have found that Center Time is a favorite activity for students. Besides providing an active way to learn, Learning Centers can be a very valuable aid for reinforcement. The suggestions in the Ready Reading Lesson Plans for Centers incorporate vocabulary from each of the specific phonics lessons to reinforce word identification skills while studying other areas in the grade level or school curriculum.

This is intended as a starting point for those of you who are pressed for planning  time. I change parts from week to week, season to season, year to year when the needs of the students change.  Since there are vast numbers of things that could possibly be taught in different grade levels throughout the country, you can easily insert something from your specific curriculum in science, social studies, math, English, etc.

Center Set-up does not have to take up a lot of space or be fancy. Whenever space has been limited, I have used a spare desk, a shelf in the book case, or wherever there was room to place supplies for students to use.  They can sit at their tables, desks, on the floor–wherever you direct them to go.  You can do whole-class instruction for many of the activities, small-group activity for others.  Adapt as teachers frequently do.

Ready Reading Lesson Plans for Cross-Curriculum Centers are currently available for Short VowelsLong Vowels, and Variant Vowels.   To get a FREE set, go to the website Contact US page  and send me an email.  I will send you an email with the files attached in a pdf format.
