READY READING Georgia

Georgia Test Results

This Field Study was done in an elementary school in the Marietta, Georgia, School District.  Students were given remedial reading instruction by Dr. Tywanna Peoples, a school reading specialist, for varying lengths of time.

The students were tested on computers, using headphones as in other standardized tests, and they had no test assistance from Dr. Peoples.  They answered 55 questions on the Northwest Evaluation Association (NWEA) Measure of Academic Progress (MAP).  The NWEA aligns the tests with the Common Core Standards and are guided by the Standards for Educational and Psychological Testing that were developed jointly by the American Educational Research Association (AERA), American Psychological Association (APA), and the National Council on Measurement in Education (NCME).

Overall results of the testing show very significant gains with only a partial year of instruction. Of the two students who did not show a gain in test scores, one was ill on the day of the test and the other is diagnosed as ADD but was without medication.
